The basis of my project is based off of the idea that we can use elements of video games that make them successful in order to fix some of the problems that we have in reality. This stems from the idea and fact that there are basic parts that make up any successful video game, anything from scrabble to the pong and beyond, they all have these parts. if we take those parts and maybe a little bit of extra stuff we might be able to work towards solving some of the issues in the world with people becoming disinterested in a sense with the real world. This hopefulness that we can use these elements to fix the problems also comes a bit from the fact that the very first games were created to fix a problem, long, long ago there was famine and people weren’t able to eat everyday so in order to take their minds off of their starvation they developed games to take their minds off it. After doing some research for this project I became very interested in the subject and the whole idea, it seems like a strange idea at first, using a video to make people more productive when people generally consider them a waste of time, but as I read the book, Reality Is Broken by Jane McGonial, it started to make more and more sense, breaking down the phycology of it all and how games do have benefits even thought it may not seem it at first.
